Meet Bill Carr, an Aboriginal historian, author and former fisherman.
His new book, "Granny Kirkup: A Wilunyu Matriarch", honours an extraordinary woman and the Wilunyu fisherfolk of Geraldton.

Bill will share with us some rich stories connected to Geraldton, the Chapman River and of course, some Yam stories too!

Important Information

  • Suitable for kids aged 6+
  • Your safety is YOUR responsibility. The paths are rough. 
  • Bring a water bottle, sunhat, sunscreen, and raincoat
  • Walks are educational with frequent stops
  • Please keep your canine friend at home to give us a chance to observe wildlife during our walks.
  • Walks go ahead in rain, unless severe weather

About Chapman River Regional Park 

The reserve is 360 hectares of conservation bushland (in comparison Kings Park in Perth is 400 hectares) with 300 flora species recorded and more to discover, located within the ҹɫè. 

“The diversity of vegetation, habitats and flora, including priority and threatened species, found at the Chapman River Regional Park is locally and regionally significant, with no comparable system found within 50 km of the reserve”.
